Digital platforms have become a very important part of the administration in the State of Qatar in the last years and have for example allowed the government to communicate with all members of society, while at the same time reducing bureaucracy and raising efficiency.

The most relevant stakeholders in the country have identified the impact of digital transformation with trends like machine learning, internet of things and big data as well as artificial intelligence on businesses in many or most industries. The application of artificial intelligence will be a key success factor for small and medium sized enterprises in the future. Whereas, artificial intelligence helps organizations to increase efficiency, save time and effort, improve products and productivity and impact customer experience.

The digital transformation shall be considered as an opportunity. Global firms see the State of Qatar as a potential technology hub for smart city solutions, cloud computing, internet of things, drones and robotics, machine-to-machine, big data and analytics, predictive analysis, cyber security, e-commerce and telecommunications services.

In order to increase the appeal of investing in this up and coming sector, the MOTC has created a number of initiatives including, but not limited/restricted to the Digital Incubation Center (DIC) to provide incubation programs for technology related businesses or projects and to nurture, assist and equip young entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge to transform innovative ideas into viable businesses and the Digital Transformation for SMEs Program to raise awareness of using, adopting and benefiting from digital technologies. it provided more than 400 workshops to over 8000 SMEs in different sectors to date.
