M7, the epicentre for design, innovation and entrepreneurship, recently launched Scale7, a fashion and design incubator, in collaboration and cooperation with Qatar Development Bank (QDB).

The innovation hub for creative start-ups and scale-ups is located in Msheireb Downtown in the heart of Doha and is part of Qatar Museums (QM). It regularly hosts fashion and design events, initiatives and activities. It provides a dedicated incubation space, a café, the “fab lab” learning area, a number of exhibition spaces and a concept store.

Scale7 will develop the ecosystem of the creative industry with artists, designers, tailors and many others. The plans of Scale7 include a ten week training program on how to launch and grow businesses and projects from initial idea to start-up and scale-up. It will be complemented by seminars and webinars or workshops on business management.
Prominent mentors from the country will support Qatari entrepreneurs and founders of start-ups, scale-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

In addition, the program will link Scale7 innovators with potential investors, partners, sponsors as well as clients and customers in the country. Another aspiration is to extend the communication, coordination, collaboration and cooperation between designers inside and outside the country.

Number 7 represents the principles of the program which are to inspire, equip, validate, empower, accelerate, connect and promote. It intends to attract a wider community through exhibitions, performances, films, programs and discussions open to the public.

Scale7 will build on the success of the Lean Fashion Program (LFP) which was launched by the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC). The program saw several Qatari entrepreneurs participate in the accelerator in Milan, Italy.

QDB has co-founded a number of incubators (including QBIC, Qatar SportsTech and Qatar FinTech Hub) and the partnership with M7 will contribute to the advancement of the spirit of creativity and the diversification of the economy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
